Stud Welder

I love my stud welder, it's a cheap Harbor Freight one, but I must have got a good one. I surprised myself with pulling this dent out.

That stud welder they have does seem to be a good one, mine does a really good job, but their studs are just plain awful so I do buy the good studs from a local supplier.

I think that welder, like most tools from HF, varies a lot in quality.
I've heard people saying it didn't work and was a piece of crp.
I must have gotten a good one because mine works real good.
Nice to know about the studs, I was looking at them at my
paint store and they're actually cheaper than Harbor Freight.
I didn't know there was a quality difference, so thanks,
I'll definetly try them out.

What brand of slide hammer are you using to pull the studs?

My own brand, A set of Vise-Grips welded to a el-cheapo puller.
I can hold the grips with one hand and slide the weight with the other.
I welded the grips to a screw-on attachment so I could take it off.
Works really good and fast.

That looks just like the one I made... I was hoping to eventually get a real stud puller with a smaller tip. I see Daytona Mig has one on their online store.

I like not having to push on the stud to release it,
like the puller that came with my welder does.

I have the "cheap one", I caught it on sale for under $100.00
It does come with a puller and 3 sizes of studs.
(The puller works, barely.)
