stumble on take off

i have a 1972 hevy pickup and it has a 350 four barrell and lately it has been stumbling on the take off and thats the only time it does it. runs perfect the rest of the time. i have rebuilt the carberator but it still does it does anyone have any ideas of what it might be?

Did you clean out the idle and transition systems real well? Sometimes a little something will get in there and partially block a passage, and that can cause an off-idle stumble.

Crummy gas can also cause a similar stumble.

It sounds like it's going lean on initial acceleration. Check your accelerator pump. You need that extra splash of gas when you get on the pedal. Shut off the engine. Pull the aircleaner off, open the throttle while looking down the throat. Look and listen for the spray of fuel. If it just dribbles.. Theres your problem. If it pumps real late that could be it too. Depending on the carb you can schedule the pump to squirt sooner or later. Check your timing too, if its to retarded that will do it as well.
