Sub framing a 57 pu
I want to sub frame my 57 pu I was wondering if I could use a 1974 corvette front frame , cut and graft it on my 57 ?
|
a camaro clip will install easier. the vette front end is nothing special. depends on how you plan to install.
|
If you insist on Vette front end, see Flat Out Engineering (they have a website), they have kits.

Nova clip ?
I have a 75 nova sub frame would that be a good choice for sub framing a 57 chevy pu ? Is nova narrower than a camero. ? I know the steering box is up front by the radiator beings I have it I thing I should be ok with it ? Any input ?

it would be my choice. the steering box/rad issue is easily dealt with . a 1 in spacer under the front cab mount buy all the clearance needed.
i do not cut and butt the clips. i use the complete clip. safe and correct geometry . |
74 Vette ? I would go a different route than that.. like mentioned above, nothing special about that set up at all. Personally if you are wanting to keep and work off of the factory chassis, I prefer to atleast see an engineered crossmember used from a reputable manufacturer. I know there is alot of guys out there that have "successfully" clipped the front of these trucks with an early Camaro / Nova however I think it is an easier and better route and you can end up with better results. :)
