Subscription Frustration

I subscribe to four magazines, Hot Rod, Car Craft, ChevyHiPerformance and Popular Hot Rodding.
Since November last year they have been arriving erratically or not at all, some have even taken the long way via Santo Domingo.
This last week I got the August issue of CHP.
My rant is about the subscription services, I e-mailed them explaining the problem, suggesting they may be stolen as mine are shipped in clear envelopes.
Apart from having no back issues to send me they tag another month on the end of my (2 year) subscriptions, everytime I complain.
They tell me "once they have been sent out to our distributors,
we have no control" thatīs really a great answer as my money seems to have got there and I am warned well in advance to pay up if I want to continue recieving the product.
Even when I wrote telling them not to tag another month on the end, to sort out the problem with the distributor, they once again apologised most profusely, nothing can be done, hereīs another month on the end for your inconvenience
Why do they do that when they cannot deliver with certainty this months issue.

Tell them you want your missing issues or you want to cancel your subscription and want a refund on the remaining portion. simple effective.

I have found a distributor of American magazines in the UK,
it will cost me a bunch more to get them.
I will phone him on Monday to ask if he can assure delivery.
This is really wierd, I have lived here since 1991 and only these magazines have gone astray, and I have had stuff sent from all over the U.S.
Bet I donīt get my money back when I tell them to stick it.

Do what i did...email the editor's direct, addresses are in the front of the mags, it'll get sorted VERY quickly. Had a similar problem when I lived in the UK.

The UK guy you mention....Graham Rennie from American Auto Mags? Pretty good service.

I cancelled all my subscriptions today and told them to refund
the money for the un-serviced issues, as stated on their subscriber services webpage.
They were starting to send my problem through other departments, which could take forever if they react the same way.
The mags will now be coming from the UK, garanteed airmail.

I always bet money that if you went to the employee bathroom in any post office youd find some magazine I ordered and never got...

Primedia is FLAKEY sometimes (allthough good about adding months) I have received the last 4 issues of motor trend in groups of 2! I got 2 months on one day, then nothing for 2 months and again 2 on the same day, if that happens again I am cancelling...

I think its relatively normal, my wife gets like 10 mags a month, and I'd say only one of them comes wrapped. Whats funny about Primemedia, is both my mags are from them, and one comes on time every month, the other doesnt!!

too weird i just had to respond because just yesterday i mailed CLUB magazine the fronts and backs of my subscription check i sent them in 2000!. in 2000 they did the exact same thing to me. right about then i met my wife so didn't really care about it. then a year later i wrote to them saying "hey where my mags" and they said "send the cancelled check" yeah, right, well like over a year goes by and i find the damned cancelled check in my receipts i went thru and so i copied it and sent them the copies, hahaha! wondering if i'll get my mags or what.

must be primedia bought them too. har

The strangest mag subscription story I have is that my wife subscribed to Rolling Stone for one year. She got the darn mag uninterrupted for 5 years without ever paying again! What a bargain!
