Anyone have any suggestions on what would fit best for a 41 chevy 1/2 ton pickup? I got a rear end and i am going to put leaf springs in the back probably going with 80's s10 springs shackles/hangers but wanted to make sure that there wasn't maybe something better. Thanks in advance
Since you are going lo-tech (that's what I do every chance I get!) why not just go with rebuilt stock springs? Remove the short leaves until you get the ride you like.
So your saying rebuild my stock springs and use weld some leaf spring perches on my rearend and go with that setup? (My rear end i got had coils so i cut the coil perches off, came out of a caprice). What are the drawbacks to that?
Yep, that's exactly how to do it. Here is a link to my journal showing how I did exactly that for the late model rear end in my '53 Chevy pickup. A few pieces of rectangular tubing and angle iron and voila! perfect rear end installation. A TON easier than trying to adapt different springs to the frame.
