Suggestions on SBC build - what would you do?
I am in the planning stages of a SBC build. The vehicle is a 49 Chevy Truck cab, fenderless, cut down bed and hood using C4 Corvette front and rear suspension with a custom frame. I expect the completed vehicle to weigh about 2500lbs and will be mostly street use with some autocross thrown in. 300 hp is the goal with a focus on streetability and reliability.
What would you do for an engine if built from the ground up? Oh, and the final "restriction"....a $2000 budget including all accessories.

Do a simple search here, there are literally hundreds of SBC builds to read up on.

Craigslist or junkyard Vortec 350 with cam swap , carb and intake or a 290hp GM crate and ebay or craigslist for the trimmings . Oh , and these trucks are addictive . Here's mine .
