Summit racing/ and AN hose sizes

First of all, I just purchaced 2 kyb struts and a brake line kit from Summit Racing, I just want to say they were very helpful and I'm pleased with them(hopefully I didn't speak to soon). Now my question is, how do you figure out what hose size you need before you order it? I mean the AN sizes like, -8 AN or -10 AN ect. What AN size is a stock chevy heater hose?

The N number is the size in 1/8'ths of an inches...hence -8N becomes 1" and -10N equals 1 1/4". Heater hoses are usually 5/8'" or 3/4", I'll let you do the math...it's good practice!

AN hose and fittings are measured on the inside diameter in 1/16" increments.

-3 = 3/16"
-4 = 1/4"
-6 = 3/8"
-8 = 1/2"
-10 = 5/8"
-12 = 3/4"

Hard to remember all these ancient measurement methods, up here in Canada Eh we have whats called the metric sytem Eh?!

I had to divide everything by 25.4...so I forgot to carry the ten. Sue me.

So, is it measured in 1/8's or 1/16's

Just who is right here? For the record guys!! What good is measuring the inside diamater of the hose? Don't you need to know what size the fitting is for thread size/size of the hole?

Tubing callouts are measured on the O.D.
Hose callouts are measured on the I.D.

And the -an fittings are in 1/16"

-2 = 1/8"
-4 = 1/4"
-6 = 3/8"
-8 = 1/2"
-10 = 5/8"
-12 = 3/4"
-14 = 7/8"
-16 = 1"
-18 = 1 1/8"
-20 = 1 1/4"
etc. etc.

Edit.... Here is a good link, if you would like to investigate further

You got a little book too? I put my name and address on the inside cover and set a $10 reward if returned to the following. I DON'T want to lose my book.

Heck yeah I got a little book. Any kind of stuff I come across that I may need to know at a later date, but don't use enough to remember I write it down. Mine never really leaves my room or the house, but the name and address in the cover is a good idea.
