Sun Tach light/perfromance problem

I have a steering post mounted Sun tach on my 66 nova having 4 wires needed to connect to operate--the red is connected to my fuse box, the green to the positive side of my coil, the black ground to the negate side of my coil, and the white is connect to the other dashboard idiot lights power source. The tach works fine until I turn on the light switch. At that time the light within the tach does not go on, the tach does not operate, going below negative, and my dashboard lights blink, not going out, just periodically dimming. I am thinking that that tach light is out, I have a problem with the head light switch, or when I recently put the engine back in the car, I put the ground of the tach to negative of the coil and it should be grounded to the frame, or i have a short in my interior dash idiot light wire harness...suggestions?? and if you think it is the interior light of the tach , how do I replace it--thx russ

Green tach wire goes to coil "-", not the positive side. The black wire is supposed to go to a chassis ground- NOT the negative side of the coil.

I have no idea- and it really doesn't matter, it was never designed to be wired that way in the first place so it's a moot point. Hopefully the tach wasn't damaged.

Good luck.
