heres his second round loss from last night
guy got him by .03 on tree and that was just enough for him to lose i told him if he ever has to line up against that guys again to dial something rediculous like a 13.80-14.0 and make the guys chase him to just past the 1,000ft mark and then get on the brakes hard the guy dials low to run in the slower class when the car can go low 11's easy i guess he gets his butt kicked when he tried racing in the class his car is supposed to be in also the under k setup is gone started installing the log style headers today ![]() be interseting to see how much retuning will have to be done with the much better flowing log headers on there |

they are only going to be on the car long enough to finish out the race season. This winter i will be building some equal length foward facing headers for him out of 321 stainless |

he ended up breaking a bolt on each head when removing the stock manifolds
so tore the heads off to remove the busted bolts ![]() ![]() looks like some excessive backpresure from the original under kmember turbo setup ![]() alky is doing a nice job of keeping the motor clean though sounds alot better with he log header setup then compared to the stock manifolds and y pipe setup |

motor is out and torn down the verdict is piston ring gap was severly to tight on the top ring ( .015)
end result is a cracked ring land and broken second ring in hole #6 other then that motor is in damn good shape ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() looks like its going back together with an .030 overbore moly rings with the correct gap, lil looser on the main and rod clearances , and some modifying of the oil pump to turn alot more rpm along with the rebuild hes steping up the cam to a 272 grind and he already purchased a gt3582r turbo |

its going back together with a down n dirty rebuild.
400 grit flex hone hone job new standard bore pistons and moly rings not changing the rod or main bearings ( hell why bother they are nicely broken in and the motor had perfect oil presure and no knocks ) going to machine the oil pump for some added presure and flow for high rpm use the decision was made to do it this way so a larger portion of the budget could be spent on a better trans/converter combo which is going to be th350 and transbrake new gt3582 compared to the old turbo ![]() ![]()

yeah he forgot to arm the alky injection system on one pass and didnt relize it till he was past the 1/8th mile.funny thing is no datalogs ever showed and detonation, and the plugs were always perfect after every pass
we suspect thats when it happened, coupled with the way over tight top ring gap it just beat the second ringland till it broke when it goes back together the top ring gap will be much closer to .030 instead of .012-.015. he never checked the top ring gap before he put the turbo on, well just assumed having just a tad over 100k miles on the engine the ringgap would have been wide enough |

its on its way to being back together
so far the original tiny a2a intercooler has been removed, going to run no intercooler with meth injection on this for now. engine is a stock shortblock with his 260 grind cam installed and his good ported heads and intake swaped over from the old engine. heads have had a valve job + all new springs locks and retainers engine is in and getting the gt3582 mocked up ![]() this isnt the actualy charge pipe hes using hes just tryoing to figure out the best way to do it i told him to clock the compressor housing 180* so the outlet points stright up and to put a 90* coupler on it to point it at the tb , then all he needs is one 90* pipe from the coupler to the tb were he can put his iat sensor and meth injection nozzle ![]()

its might run this weekend
![]() ![]() hes going to fab the downpipe tommorow , only real issue right now is that the 90* fitting for the oil feed line cant be screwed into the turbo since it hits the compressor housing, so need to figure something out there |
