Super Chevy @ IRP Indianapolis!
Had a great time at the Super Chevy Show the past couple days. my son and I worked like dogs Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday early, but didn't take the Nova until Sunday. We got the car ready early Saturday, but the weather report was poor, so we decided to just go for the races and spectator stuff. Turned out it didn't rain at all! We cruised the 60's Nova show section and decided to take the Nova for judging today.
This was our first ever showing of a car. When we got to the gate, we paid to register the car and were told to drive to the red tent and turn left into the Nova section, which we did. We got there about 9:45 and started cleaning the little things and getting the car ready. About 10:35 a judge walked up and asked where our card was, we had none! He scolded us for not having the card and sent us to the red tent to register the car for judging. Turned out the registration closed at 10:30! We plead ignorance and they let us register and we ran back to get the card to the judge, who had gone on his way. About 30 minutes later my son says, "the judge was just here"! Apparently he walked up to the car, checked that we got the card and walked off. I was concerned that we got a fair judging and voiced this to my son. That's when the fellow next to us commented that the "judges" spent a total of 20 minutes looking at all the cars in the 60's & 70's Nova section! Basically a quick glance at the engine, interior and exterior and off they went from car to car. Then a couple other guys joined in and said this was probably their last Super Chevy Show, as it is mainly about the races, not the showing. My son and I were somewhat amazed and disappointed in the judging, but had a great time. Meeting and talking to other Nova owners and looking at their cars and modifications was priceless! I got a picture of every 60's Nova, engine and mag wheel that was there. I really want to put some mags on my Nova but with so many mags to choose from, it's gonna be hard to pick. One spectator liked my painted rims and commented that it was different than all the other mag wheels, which set it apart. All-in-all, it was a great weekend with my son and I am looking forward to many more! As an aside, the Nova ran great! We now have our temperature under control, got our new rear brakes install, got our timing set right, got our B&M shifter straightened out, got our VPA door openers installed, and more. Nearly all of what we have accomplished has been because of the aid of this forums membership. Thanks to all who have posted replies!

A good judge will not have to spend much time judging each car until it gets down to the finalist.
Do the math, say 8 judges, 500 cars, a couple of min. is all the time they have or need. for each car. Those judges are highly qualified and paid and know what they are doing. But sometimes they do make a mistake, they are just humane. It's just that Roger Gustin does such a great job of getting a good drag racing card. The parking lot car shows are great, but I pretty much do the Super Chevy shows just to see the drag racing. Are they still doing the wheelstanders and jet cars?
I should be at the SC show in Maple Grove PA next weekend!

Yep, the Gustons bought the super chevy show franchise in 96 I think it was, up until then they contracted the transporting of the superchevy show from show to show.
