Superchargers on a budget ?

Hey everyone,

I was just thinking how great it would be to have a Blower on my 383 stroker ( all forged internals so it should hold the HP ) The real question is can it be done on a budget? I was thinking on the lines of a used M90 or twin M90s. I found some interesting articles,

I just need some steering in the right direction, something that has a SBC intake manifold. Would I be better off just getting a 177 ? I'm not looking for a lot of boost, I have 9.3 compression but figured I would run a water injection system to control detonation.

Thanks
Jordon

What is your budget like? A 177 would definitely make your engine come alive. I stuck a 142 on a 9.7:1 350 and the difference was amazing. It makes about 6psi of boost and it'll run fine on straight 92 octane as long as I don't get crazy with the throttle. Of course, there's no point in having a supercharger if you don't make use of it so I usually run about an 80/20 mix of 92 and 114 octane. It's been on there for about a year and a half now and so far the cast crank, two bolt mains and hypereutectic pistons are holding together.

I say if you can manage the cost of the 177 then go for it. It's a kick in the pants.
