The thin chrome is original chrome from the original door panels. It is attached with prongs that go through holes in the panel and are bend down to hold it in place.

Oh ok but what do people use for that type of trim on a custom panel? I understand if its just formed round or flat bar but how is it attatched?

Brian, Dan's advice is right-on. The PVC is far superior to the waterproof board. Every aspect of it is better including the price. You should be able to buy it close to home from anyone who sells to the sign industry.

The aluminum bars or round stock are generally tapped and have studs installed that go through holes in the panels and held in place with nuts.
