They are doing it to a crap load of business's in Syracuse. Making room for a technology park thats located over a capped dumpsite. Instead of them buying the business owners out , the developer is using the city's power of Eminent Domain to his advantage. He has also been promising the Destiny Project for several years now, and has YET to deliver ANYTHING. He keeps whining and blaming the City of Syracuse for dragging its feet. The last mall he built (Carousel Mall) is still under legal scrutiny for not paying contractors, yet the city politico's are back in his pants.
And now they want to jump in bed witha Tech Park? No one in town will bid this developer. He has to get people just to change the lightbulbs (on top of the mall's antennae) from OHIO ! |

I am also willing to bet that the city will not pay the owners the fair market value of their buisness, instead they are going to pay the minumum allowed for reclaiming a "Brown Zone" since at one time it was a dump. |

as my biology teacher put it 8 yrs ago or so, "the governments got you by one nut and the businesses got you by the other". So,,, as we all know this is/was NOT Constitutional what can we do? We really only have one true option and that is to "petition our government for a redress of grievances". Although this is not something that will affect us today or tomorrow our children could be in serious trouble if it progresses to the point of being like Europe several centuries ago with landlords and little to no private ownership.... and at an extreme it will or even has become somewhat communist {even bordering on Fascist,.. ie. people not knowing what's best for them but the government does } with the government/businesses becoming nearly the some entity.I knew this was coming with the advent of Homeland security. We must now, at this most crucial point in time, realize how important individual rights are, above all other times in history, and rise up and demand from our government to recognize these rights. There is no way that these seizures in any shape way or form come under the definition of "probable cause". Quote:
And let us not deny but rather use the often forgotten, yet innumerably strong, Ninth Amendment to the fullest of it's capabilities! Quote:

The only bad part about this is you CANNOT vote out the Supreme Court Justices. They are locked in.We are having one hell of a time trying to get anyone appointed now, because of the fear from the overturn of Roe vs. Wade.(Different discussion)
So in turn,if it were to go up for a vote on a nominee who would overturn this moronic decision,he/she would NEVER be seated. |

This Is Communism! Nothing Less.
The United States fought tooth and nail in the past to keep this country free from communism as was prevalent in the Soviet Union only to install its own brand of communism. In a Communistic Government, everything is owned by the state.
How long will it be before the U.S. Government owns all the land, property and businesses in this country? You will notice that I did not say OUR anywhere in the above question. Why? Because I feel that we are rapidly losing all our rights and privileges. Here in San Antonio, a few years back when the Mayor decided to strap the city for a new Dome so the Spurs could have a nicer place to play basketball than the one they were playing in, invoked the eminent domain and bought up several city blocks of homes and businesses for as little as they could and the ones that refused to sell were condemned. The new dome was built and after only a couple of years the Spurs officials fussed and claimed that the dome was too large of a building for them so the SBC (spurs basketball center) was built and they moved out of the dome. San Antonio does not have a major league football team, but we have a large building to play in if we ever do get one. Now the Alamo Tomb sits there more unused than used and costing thousands upon thousands of dollars to maintain. Ladies and Gentlemen the time has now come to organize and elect officials and spokes persons to fight this situation before we lose everything we own and are forced to work for the government for whatever compensation it is willing to give for sustenance. The first order of business should be to fight for the reversal of the orders that allow the Supreme Court Justices to be appointed for life. I believe they should be elected to office with term limits. I guess I should get off my rant before I get caught up into some name calling. LET US ORGANIZE TO SAVE AMERICA. (OSA). I nominate Zel Miller for our spokesman. AL Last edited by Gr8 '48 bow tie; 06-29-2005 at 11:48 PM. |

Yes, I grew up in a trailer park and I grew out of it but I did not forget where I came from. We had a church, a playground and we spoke to our neighbors. it wasn't a bad place to live. I can see this particular Governor's statement ringing in the ears of every, developer owned, politician in the country. Greedy bastards. Larry |

Seems to be a controversial ruling.
In an interesting twist, a private developer in Weare, New Hampshire is now looking to use the strength of the ruling to build a "Lost Liberty" hotel on 34 Cilley Road -- the present location of the home of Supreme Court Justice David Souter. Hmm, How quickly will that ruling be reversed if he gets the land? I'm going to bet that the voting council has enough skeletons in the closet for the judge to sway the vote in his favor.

One thing that`s important to remember here, it all revolves around 1 thing. Classic Greed. If we look back on history, every nation that was once top dog didn`t stay there, and why is due to the same thing, Greed.
Were the richest nation on earth, and almost the biggest as well, we got people here from all over, and they all want 1 thing, more money, he who has the money, has the power and that`s what it comes back down to again, Greed, the dollar. Greed will be this nations undoing, it`s almost like what there doing in my hometown that used to be so small that is now growing out of control, people come in, buy land, wait a few months, resell it and make a $10,000 profit, sooner or later, the bubble is going to pop. Land out in the country where I live used to be give away cheap, now it`s right at $8,000 a acre or more, more and more people are flooding in, when the major buisnesses get done with this state, it`ll be like the northern states, overpopulation, no jobs, crime will go through the roof, and the clowns at the city council are steady screaming "more more more" get all the people and buisness in here you can. Funny thing is, we let major corporations use us, they moved to my state for cheap labour, and when the cost of living gets to high to meet there pay scale, they pull out and move to another country, and if they can find a way to fire you so they don`t have to pay your retirement all the better. Lastly, in the end I`ll say the same thing over, sooner or later, the bubble is going to pop, and when it does it ain`t gonna be pretty. |

jon, that is AWWWESOME! is there some way you can find out how to contact that city counsel so we can all write letters of support? That would be the greatest thing that could ever happen. maybe somebody will want to condem all the justices houses who voted for that decision!
