Suspension Question

I know there are books out there for chassis setting up dirt track oval type cars. Nascar type. But does anyone know of a book that deals in 1/8 and 1/4 mile drag racing. Like how to pre load and setup the rear and etc. After seeing what it does on several passes and help correcting whats wrong and making it pull harder out of the shoot. I am working with a good set up. A Competition engineering 4 link with coil overs. Have a 488 9" posi and 30"X 10" M&h slicks With a 30s type straight axle. Built as a 60s type gasser was. Just trying to get ideas on how to get it to hookup up better.

a lot depends on if this is a street drivin car or strictly drag, I heard from mooser engineering when I had my rearend narrowed that the more degree that you use to angle the pinion down the better it will hook although this is only for drag as this shortens your u-joint life, hope this helps but I would definitly ask the pro's this is just what I heard.

"Doorslammers, the Chassis Book" by Dave Morgan. The man is a chassis guru and lectures around the country on it, was also a teacher at the Univ of Northern Ohio's(Jeg's Popular HotRodding Mag Engine Masters Dyno Challenge is run here) performance motorsport program. Also search for MOSTLY SUSPENSIONS web site by Billy Shope, a chassis engineering site http://www.racetec.cc/shope

There's a lot of info on the net about race suspension setup but having Dave's book is a good idea too and I think it's still 30 bucks. Has been that price for nearly 30 years. Ladder bar cars usually like less pinion angle than leaf spring cars and generally start around 1.5 - 2.5 degrees down. Weight distribution is very important. Usually, a car that closer to 50/50 front to rear weigh bias will respond better than a car with 45/55. If you have access to scales, the setup will be easier to dial in.
