I have a '63 fairlane wagon with a 3 spd trans. I want to switch it with an auto because I'm putting a 351C or a 302 in it and It will be much easier for my wife to drive. My question is where to put the shifter. Should I cut a hole in the floor and have a console or try and use the shifter from the 3 on the three. Which is easier/better?
Thanks,
Dragon Wagon
If it were my car if it fits I would use something like a B&M Z-Gate shifter like this one and just remove the shifter arm from the column. Different people like different shifters but I have used more than a couple B&M's and like the Z-Gate for the price.
Betcha, an old 60s Mustang shifter would fit nicely too.
