Swap a 4l60E for 4l80e guestions

I have a 2000 Chevy Silverado P-U, I wanted to upgrade the trans from a 4L60E to a 4L80E or 4L85E. Is it a direct swap? What will I need to do the swap other than the trans? Will I need to reprogram the ECM? I was hoping by doing the swap it would give me a stronger more reliable truck. Any feeed back would be of great help

The 4L80E/85E is longer than the 60E so the Driveshaft would need to be shortened. May be able to just slide the Trans Crossmember back, mounting holes are probably already there. I'm not sure about the ECM programming, someone on here will know.

Wire pin locations in connector are slightly different. Yoke spline count is different, length of trans is different, bolt pattern flexplate for converter is different, ECM programing needs changes.

Camaro guys perform this swap often. I would suggest investigating the Camaro forums for proper swap info.

Custom converter built with same diameter bolt pattern to flexplate would be suggested
Dont worry how old you are... it is the mileage on your body that adds up.
