Post swap a TH350 for a four speed?

I have an 81 camaro with a TH350 in it, I would like to drop in a four speed. Did the Z28's come with the four speed option? What tranny was this? What manual would work best? How much is a used manual tranny run now days. Thanks for your help, and give me any and all suggestions or options. Thank you, Bill

I dont know the answer to your question about it being a option.....but I do know unless your going to use a hyd clutch set up you need to first check and see if your block is drilled to use a clutch set-up....alot of blocks are not drill and tapped for the bell crank...this can be fixed by drilling the boss in front of the oil filter housing.....but its next to impossible to do in the car....check that first....

Cool

Cool, I'm looking to do the same thing with mine. The 80&81's came with a saganaw slush box, I'm looking to put in a muncy M21, had one in a vega, it was the best tranny i've ever shifted. Good luck, and keep me up on the progress.
