Swapping 700r4 from 4.3l to v8

I am wondering a few things about a 700r4 swap that I haven't been able to come up with, and it could be just be that Im pretty tired right now but my question is this.

I am going to swap a 700r4 that was behind a 4.3l 1992 safari van into my 1981 malibu station wagon, the question is, do I have to buy a converter for a 350 700r4, or will the 4.3l torque converter work?

I am guessing the 4.3l converter would not work, but WHY is the question, will it give me a higher, or lower stall, or just not work at all.

Thanks.

done it before a couple of times, it'll work fine as is.
if there's a stall speed change, i couldn't tell...

what rear gears are in the wagon?
if it originally had a 3 speed trans (non-overdrive), they may not be deep enough for the OD and it'll be a pig to drive...

just a thought..

Use the converter. The 4.3 converter is slightly higher stall than an OEM converter for the V8... you will not really see - feel much difference with a stock V8 engine

This is great news as I already have to pick up the TCI lock up kit, shorten the driveshaft and do a few other mods, glad to hear one thing will work

Lookiong forward to overdrive
