235 to a 350 in a 57 3100

I put a 350 in my 57 chevy truck in the early 80's. not knowing what to do and how todo it. My truck motor had front engine mounts. so i looked around and saw that the v8's had front mounts too. so i didn't think it would be very hard. i left the bellhousing mounts in the same place. did some measuring and thought i needed to move the mounts a little bit. so i chisled off the rivets and bolted the mount where i needed it for the front mounts for the v8. pictures are what helped me alot. if i am not mistaken, you could/can buy mounts or mount adapters for the swap. i am almost certain that the front crossmember can stay in the same place with something you can mount on the crossmember. you just need to research and find out what is best for you. of course, you could always utilize the modern mount locations. that will require a crossmember relocation. if you plan on doing the work yourself, DO the research. when i changed to a v8, i also changed from the generator to the alternator with only modifying the wiring harness. that is a different a different story. good luck.

You can purchase a bolt in crossmember that has built in mounts for a small block Chevy but that's the easy part. You'll also have to change the trans and get rid of the torque tube driveshaft and replace the rear end. There's a lot more to it than just swapping the engine. None of this is very difficult but you need to know everything that's involved in order to plan out your work, do a good job and wind up with something that's reliable and drives well.
