Swapping my engine from computer to No computer, whats the best way??

Hey Guy's I'm getting ready to take out the old stock computer controlled 305 quadrajet carb, turbo 200 metric trans, computer controlled smog packaged wheezer in favor of a nice simple 30 over 350 with a 700r4 and what I hope will be a 3.73 geared rear end. As of now I am unsure just what is the best way to go with this combo as far as ignition and tray set up. I was thinking a simple HEI and a basic lockup unlock deal with the trans. What is the very best way to go with this set up??
Thanks

The good thing about a HEI is you give it 12 volt and it will work so your OK on that . I would just look in to a vacuum switch to control your lock up on your trans . Is that the best way? I don't know but it will work.

Well I have decided that Hei will be the way to go for sure in fact that's the way I went with my 69 Bird and it works great. My big concern is the trans and anything else that the computer controls. The kit from speedway looks nice but I was told it can be done cheaper for sure and since this is a second project the budget is very strict so I will be looking for other way's to do the shifting. Anyone know what else the computer on this car controls? The reason I ask is it got trashed by a whole lot of water and frankly I hate the darn things and can't wait to say goodbye that is unless I need it for something else? I would like to eliminate it completely but how would I integrate the rest of the car once it's gone? Will the rest of the car function without it?
