swapping out a 4100

hello all i have a clean 1984 caddy deville with the junk motor 4100 i wish to change it with another motor what motor will replace a 4100

My old geezer brain can't remember the engine size. tonight. But, the next larger engine, 4300-4500?, produced a couple of years after yours, in fwd Cadillacs, is a much better engine. It is almost a direct bolt in.. Still the same design, but GM changed the alloy in the block and corrected some of the numerous faults, the results were much better..

One of the many reasons that GM lost customers. 4100 were poor designed/engineered engines.. Many of the rebuilders wouldn't touch them..

didnt know they had them size

how you bob,thanks for letting me know that,i diodnt know gm came out with those size motors,you right the 4100 is a junk motor it has no get up and go its slow as pond water,,by chance you,re not in cleveland ohio,,i would sure like to find someone who can do it..thanks again bob you been very helpful take care
