switch wiring

Thanks 79C10 and Hoptup32 info helped still have one problem i cant find info on and that is wiring for tank switch. I have duel tanks with 5 lug switch on dash and for some reason when switched to right tank it shows left and switched to left it shows right. When switched to right showing left it is running on right tank. Where am i going wrong...

It sounds like the sending unit wires are backward on the dash switch terminals. Since the tanks switch properly, those wires are probably on the right terminals.

Its been a while since I've had the switch off my '75 and I can't remember if you can just pull the wires off the back of the dash switch and swap them.

If you can't do it there, you can correct the wiring where the wire/terminals go through the firewall and run into the engine compartment. The firewall plug is rubber, with terminal connectors that go through it. The wires just plug into the terminals on each side, so it should be easy to pull off the two sending unit wires (tan, and tan with a white stripe), and just swap them.
