I HAVE A TBI 305 IN MY 91 CAPRICE AND A WANT TO SWITCH IT OUT FOR 327 WITH A 750 HOLLY CARB.I'M WONDERING IF IT WILL BOLT UP TO MY 700R4 TRANSMISSION.I'M DOING THIS BACAUSE I WANT TO BUILD UP TO A 400 HP ENGINE THAT CAN TAKE ALOT OF ABUSE.DO YOU THINK THIS IS WISE OR SHOULD I GET MY 305 STROKED TO A 335?
The 327 will bolt up to the 700r4 with no problem. If you dont already have the motor you should probably go the 350 route if you really want 400hp without getting radical.
While the 327 is a great engine, you`d be better off with a 350, espeically one stroked to a 383, your caprice is no flyweight, these are heavy cars, and it`s torque, not horsepower that moves all that sheet metal around, the 327 is known as more of a high revver than a torque engine. by abuse if you mean high revs and kept there, build a 327, as they can handle the revs, but you can`t rev a 383 and hold it without it coming ungled unless you use heavy duty rods. the 383 will reach your goals a lot easier than a 327.
THANK YOU GUYS FOR YOUR QUICK REPLYS.THIS HAS BEEN A FUN EXPERIENCE.HOPEFULLY ONE DAY I CAN HELP YOU GUYS OUT.
