switching rear gears and trans. what gears
 

ok so i am getting ready to change the rear gears and trans. i was wanting more off the line performance as well as better mileage in town. right now i believe i have 2.73 in the rear of my 81 c10. it has a 350 turbo. i have a 700r4 to be rebuilt.

as for the gears i dont know if i should go with 3.42 or 3.73. i will also every so often pull a trailer.

I was wanting good low end but not taking to much high end where i can still go on the interstate.

So would i be better off with 3.42 or 3.73 with the 700r4

3:73,if it was my truck.

Personally I like 3.55s. If you're going to want it to be a real truck, mileage be damned get 4.10s. If you're not towing over the rocky mountains, 3.42s are fine
