My buddy has a 80 1/2 ton CHevy P/U that the T-350 Long shaft went out in. He has a T-350 short shaft and was wondering if we can put the long tailshaft off the old tranny on the good short shaft ntranny. The truck is a Long bed so the drive shaft is already long long long, would we be able to find a drive shaft that would acomadate a shoft shaft? I assume we would have to go to a 2 piece? <img src="confused.gif" border="0">

Yes you can. You have to dismantle the entire transmission to do so since the guts all load from the front. I recently had a similar but opposite problem in my son's 57 BelAir. The trans was short shaft and the case was bad (all the boltholes around the front pump were stripped). I ended up having the driveshaft shortened and buying a built long tail. Now I have another short tail which may have a good case, so one day I'll bust it down and swap guts.

unless you know what is going on inside dont try it yourself, swaping the internal parts I mean. One other option you might consider, what I did, I put a 700R4 in my 77 wher a long shaft was at, had to change nothing and now have overdrive. good luck
