T-350 problem.

Hi, apart from my Carb acting up my trans is also not working properly.
It started about 2 years ago, the reverse wouldn't engage until i revved the engine a bit, wich got it to engage and spin the tires slightly (it really shot into gear), i talked to a tech and he told me not to worry about it, so stupid as i am i didn't

anyways, now it won't engage reverse at all. everything else works perfectly, drive engages immediately as it always has, 2nd and first as well, and no problem with park.
Pretty much the same problem as described here but the S-link is still in place. However, the Speedo has been acting up, and i noticed the retainer at the gearbox is just a home made metal piece that doesn't fit properly and therefore allows the cable holder to rotate slightly at high rpm, can this cause the reverse to not engage?

Has the governor anything to do with reverse or is it only for forward drive gears?

there are no noises coming from the trans (not even a click when i put the shifter in reverse)

Just like with the carb, any wisedom shared is much appreciated
