Just out of curiosity what limits would you stay within for input shaft endplay? I have heard several different numbers. One is to stay within .032-.064 and the other is .015-.030.

end play

so we would assume thats a early unit with thrust washers, the problem with early units were too much end play thats why they wear bushings so bad.how much did it have before tear down.if you could get it 25 or 35 thou.it would be good.i like to shim from the rear behind the rear output shaft washer as opossed to shimming the pump washer too much(just the way i was taught)ford c/4 fiber pump washers work good behind the output washer as a shim.as far as bushings change them all.

well it does have several of the needle bearing in it as well! As far as the endplay before hand I should have done it and didn't think about it till I had it half way apart and I didn't have the dial indicator at that point yet either. I know my instructors that I had when I was in school that I still talk to said it would be closer to the .032"-.064", and it is within that spec. But Ill see if I can get ahold of some shims for it.
