1979 chevy short bed truck 350 turbo trans forward gears stopped woking but reverse still works. just installed motor an trans into 1982 cutlas which trans sit for couple years but had less than hundred miles on it before motor blew an rebuilt motor to put in car with trans also. but drove a whole day an went home an hour later went to leave again an went out 2 blks from home an never slipped or showed any signs of anything wrong has new seals new fluid an is full on fliud an has tried to go into forward gear an did go into drive normal an solid one time an quit messing with it. what do i check an to fix trans?

this is a common failure mode for those transmissions, all the old guys know about it, luckily a rebuild trans is not a giant expense, 200 or so, if you can do the R&R.

but since it sat you could try and drain it out and replace the fluid, maybe some junk got loose and plugged up a passage.
