Hopefully, some of the regulars will chime in here. You prolly lost a band anchor pin or fried the lining. I can tell you, years ago I installed an ATI full manual VB into a T-400 and the instructions called for the removal of some bands. I called them and was told the trans would have no engine braking in any gear. I could leave them in, but they would never be activated...

Do not get a full manual valve body for a street car.
Possible band failure, possible 2nd gear sprag failure or is about to fail. If you ran it at WOT with low fluid level you nay have smoked the clutches and the band too. Why are you operating this transmission with low fluid? If your car is hurtin' ,,,needs repairs don;t beat on it. |

you will lose 3rd gear next. You can upgrade to the 400 if you dont mind the H.P. loss. My 80 Camaro ate a couple t-350s so I put a 400 with manual shift body and never had a problem.The cost is only a few dollars more than a 350.move the cross member back 2 inches.Hope your exhaust is not an issue?

Driving the car since this happened, trans started acting normal again, engine braking etc, all was normal....wth? How does something like this come and go, then, last night, made 2,full tilt passes right through the top of third gear, on the second one, I slowed down, went to turn on my road, clicked it to second, again, no more engine braking......passed my house, small tour through the country side where I live, drives fine, shifts fine, still no engine braking tho....today, went to pick up my kid, same same, no changes....on our way home he asks me to crank it up just once, so I do.....get to my street, engine braking is back.....I'm completely confused lol.....checked shifter cable adjustment, its good, checked fluid, its full and reasonably clean, doesn't smell burnt.....I just don't get it....
