T-400 transmission, no upshifts

i have either a th375 or th400 tranmission and i bought a truck off my friend and it had this in it and supposidly the tranny is still good and i changed out the filter and refilled the tranny and it still wont shift does anyone have any ideas ----driving gears it has first u can put it in drive and it wont go past first gear and it also will start in any gear



Also my tranny has the pan of a TH375/TH400 and i dunno which one it is the tailshaft numbers are----865518c

im no expert but it could have a burnt out clutch pack. time for rebuild...

could it be the vaccum modulator or the safety control switch or the transmission govenor

yes, check them all.

verifiy vacuum at modulator,

check governor plastic gear under the 4 bolt cover near rear of main case

Could also be a stuck governor inner valve
