T-400 vent tube broken off.

I just picked up another TH400 for a future project. It had just been rebuilt, and a shift kit installed. It's clean, inside and out, and I've replaced the front/rear seals, and filter/pan gasket. However, the vent tube is broken off in a spiral shape that barely protrudes from the case. What's the best way to get it out without damaging the case? I don't want to "experiment, and mess it up. Thanks, Butch/junior stocker.

IIRC, the vent is just pressed into the case.

If you thread a screw into the opening of the broken tube, it should pull cleanly out. Don't thread it any more than necessary to get some 'bite', not talking about tightening the screw all the way, here. Just gently, enough to get a purchase on it.

From those shown, a small wood screw is what I'm talking about here, like those at the top right:

pull the pump out... install new vent tube , bolt the pump back in

Pump easily comes out , no need to pull the pan off
