Question T-5 strength

how much HP / torque will the T-5 tranny's hold up to, and are some version of the T-5 stronger then others? can a T-5 be beefed up to handle more for a resonable price?

there are T5s and world class T5s the wc being a bit stronger there is also a countershaft bering kit that beefs it up conciderably but they still won't take massive torque because they are inherently weak, but some people run them with good success

Cool

My brother owned a Z28. It had a 350 4bbl and a T5. I have seen a few others since. They were good economy transmissions but do not like the pounding of drag racing. The car was fast and reliable but we never raced it. If you want a serious performer look at a richmond gear unit. Expensive but they can take a pounding.

I think before I spent the extra $$$ for the richmond I'd just go with the raptor (700r4). I know a lot of s-10's do conversions to 350's, and still run the tranny's OK.

I still haven't decided what engine I want to run so I'll probably have to settle that before I decide on which tranny I want to run.

I'll take a look through my Car Craft's this weekend because I know they did a build up of a T-5. I can't really remember what they did to it, but I think they beefed it up. I'll get back to you probably on Friday or Saturday some time.
