T bucket help
I was hoping i could get some help. I planning on building a t bucket
i found some plans floating around here for the frame. but my question is I live in california. and since i would be building a frame myself there wouldn't be any vin. how do i go about titling it without having to meet 05' smog standards if it was a custom build wouldn't it be registered as an 05' ? I want to build one but i don't want to spend several years making a car only to not be able to title it. any help would be usefull. |

You'll probably use your engine casting number, or the VIN of a body you'll use.

I don't know about CA, but in NY...
if you build and register as an '05 custom, you are exempt from the emissions test (OBDII), so you might want to check out the Ca laws about it. BUT, (again, in NY) if you build a custom 05, it will have to have all the emissions that year the motor built. so if you use a motor from a 1975, it will have to have cats, air pump, etc.
