ron, when i did my seat i used 3/4" plywood and cut two holes and webbed in 2" stuff and put on 2" of stiff foam.. for the sides i used 1/8" paneling to make patterns and gave them to the int guy. i glued the int to the panels and screwed that to the wooding.. nice and neat and ain't goin anywhere....

This is great idea to create a T-bucket interior. When I build I used a 4/2'' and 3" stuff and 3" foam. It seems more convenient and useful.Here are some more information on this.********************************************* ******************************************

I'm sure he's talking about building the seat from scratch, and the upholstery chapters in the scratch built hot rod e-book won't help him with that. There's a lot more information in the interior section of this forum about making panels and seats than is in the e-book, all he has to do is do a search.

There's a reason why you don't use drywall compound and Masonite for panels in a car interior. The reason is there are better, easier, less expensive, and less time consuming ways to do things. That's why people who do upholstery for a living don't do it that way.
