If you are going to make your seat from scratch there is a DVD by Sid Chavers that does an excellent job of instruction on how to choose the correct foam, how to design, contour, construct and upholster it. I have been pleased with all of Sid's DVD's.
If you go to the interior area of this forum DanTwoLakes has some excellent tutorials that you will also find very usefull.
