T H 400 fluid level

I have a th 400 with an aftermarket dipstick and I'm not too sure if it's the correct lenght. I was thinking of checking it by measuring how far below the pan rail it reaches. Does anyone know where the fluid level should be in relation to the pan rail? The trans has a smaller converter and a remote cooler so the 12 quart capacity wont help me. Thanks in advance Richie Z
