Post T-Shirt Design Contest

I know we've been concentrating a lot on the Knowledge Base lately, which is very important, but can be dry at times. I'm up to my eyebrows in links, articles, sites, and getting editors set up for the Knowledge Base, and I don't see the tide receding any time before summer.

So, let's take a break and indulge ourselves a little, and do something we should've done long ago. I know everyone's been very patient on the t-shirts, so let's get it rolling.

I met someone a little while ago who runs a silkscreening shop, so getting them printed up shouldn't be too tough. We can sell them on our secure server at Hotrodstore.com, or by PayPal, or by mail, depending on what is most convenient for each individual person.

Let's brainstorm as many ideas as we can, and then we'll go from there. We'll probably start with a basic short sleeve cotton pocketless t-shirt, whatever the best quality is. Color, design, logo, slogan, front/back, and all that are up for grabs. I have just one request -- somewhere on the shirt, in some form, should appear: "Hotrodders.com".

I know everyone has a different concept of what they like to wear, but we will all have to decide on one single design. This probably means that something simple and classic will win out, but of course we'll see. I'm not sure exactly how we're going to decide, but let's just throw ideas out there now.

I know Halloweenking submitted some ideas a while back, and I believe some other people have mentioned something as well. If you previously drew something up, please post it directly in this thread.

The person whose design gets chosen will get a free t-shirt. Or two, if you like. This will be nothing compared to the real prize -- the eternal admiration and undying respect of your fellow hotrodders .

(ADDED: If you are a professional artist, we would be happy to trade you either advertising on Hotrodders.com, and/or mention of your name/business on our t-shirts, for a winning design )

Well dern vern, your timings impecable!

This below was done a while back pretty quickly and as you can see time took its toll about the 3-4th flame out while shading. Will take my time and do it right if its chosen. The plan was to use the flames with Hotrodders.com either over under or inside the flames with a chrome appearance. I didn't get to the text, but I will if you want to see it. The flames can be any color(s) you choose, but the text will be chrome! I can do a more classic flame look if you like. Also had some HR.com text in flames and a '32 with HR.com in the grill, but I have to find it now...been a while since we talked about shirts so theres no tellin' where they are <img src="graemlins/drunk.gif" border="0" alt="[drunk]" />

If your not plaining to change the main page logo. Use it on the t-shirt.
keep the hotrodders on top with hotrodders.com on the bottom. (that is if your plaining on keeping the logo)
The reason for this is: when they type in hotrodders.com they see the same logo and know there at the right place.

just my 2 cents

I agree with awsum34. From a marketing view that is the best way to go.

I do beleive that the site logo isn't going to be used because of difficulty getting it printed up. I do not exactly remember what Jon said, but if you look back in the HR.com Q&A I'm sure you can find the posts on the t's.

Thumbs up

Just my two cents. I brag this site to every one I know, Who is into hotrods. I dont see one type of hotrod here, there are all types. With different ideas, From all over the world. The tech in catagories, witch is designed to build a hotrod in all areas. There is alot of expert knowledge in those areas. So maybe sombody could run with that theory. Thats what this site is about, isnt it?

Wink

HK;

I like the flame graphics. They would enhance my big fat beer gut, perfectly. All it needs added, is the text "Bought And Paid For In Full!", at bellybutton level.

My vote is for #3. Easier to print up, It's plain, simple and to the point BUT I think the cars should be on top of a flat map of the world. (I'd draw it up but I can only draw straight lines and flies.) And underneath the Hotrodders.com something like....."The Common Denominator of the World" or something to that effect. Some type of saying under it. You get the idea. For a hat I would like the HK flame in the front with Hotrodders.com in the middle. Damn I wish I could draw. Hell give me two T's each..one in white and one in black and a black hat. Did I mention that if I could draw I'd submit something. Now I can only submit an idea.

Kevin
