T350 Kickdown cable

Has anybody ever fabricated a plug to install in place of the cable? The current cable is leaking where it attaches to the tranny case. I would like to just get rid of the cable because it is not needed and I haven't had it hooked up in several years.

There may be an "O" ring missing from your cable, or the plastic may be cracked.

You should have it hooked up for the tranny to work properly.

I think the plastic might be cracked. It's 30+ years old.

Besides downshifting when getting on the throttle, what else does the cable control?

the detent cable raises main line pressure for firmer shifts and delays the upshifts....... besides the down shifting / passing gear action
