Lightbulb T400 cooler question

I have a 71 Chevy pickup with a fairly new T400. It has an old external cooler on it that runs in series with the radiator tranny cooler. I want to replace this. I had a crazy idea...I also like the newer 94-96 Caprice Impala SS's---it so happens the police (Caprice) version came with these slick little tranny coolers-----so I found one off a taxi cab going to the junkyard....questions follow....

Whats the best way to COMPLETELY clean this out before installing?

I would like to use flexible hose to connect it to the tranny---whats ideal to use?

These little guys (cooler in question) were used on LT1's on 4L60E's---do you think I will have an issue using this (on my Truck/t400) instead of something much larger?

BTW-the cooler is in very good condition from the outside----they usually don't leak.

Should work fine. Best way to clean is to run the stream from a parts cleaner through it for many minutes. For hose, go to an industrial hose supplier and ask for the highest rated hot oil hose they have. The good stuff will outlast the car compared to auto parts store hose that will start cracking before you get it home!
