t400 police

hey im zac and i have an 82 cutlass with a chevy 350 in it and i looked up the numbers and it said for the suffix casting it was a 1974 350 t400 police 4 full size and i was wondering about the t400 police. does this mean it was out of a police car or is it just the type of tranny that was used with this motor. thanks

A T400 is a Turbo400, which was Chevys heavy duty trans at the time........Probably used them in the police cruisers.

If it was part of a police package then you probably got a 4 bolt block. I don't know what other differences there are but I don't think they were any more powerful than most other 350s from the time.

T400 Police

I just got one of those too, took me forever to find something on the engine code to figure out what it was... Im curious to know what, if any, extras there may be on it. It came out of an old army truck were putting a 454 in. And this engine wasnt the stock engine from the army truck, and the guy who sold it to us said it was a '68 327... But i just now found out what it really was. haha
