t400 rebuild

Can you overdo it when you beff up your trany with Hi-pro parts,I mean can some parts destroy other parts even if they are made for high torque capacity,Are some gears and some valve bodys made for just this are just that.I ask only because this is my first rebuild and the one I have was bought used and it was built for a drag car and I'm clueless on whats in because I can not fill it shift unless I stomp on.but when I ease onit I do not fill it shift only by the rpm's.now Iwant to add a low gear planetary & valve body kit, should I or not.It was rebiult with all new parts and never raged on.I just need know what I should do???

400 Rebuild

It is in my 1984 chevy swb,350 semi beefy,High rise,headers,4bb holly,Still in the works not my daily driver.I'm changing from a 350 to383 with mild upgrades. It's just for the sunday ride only. There is nothing wrong with my 400t I just want to beef it up a little so it will handle the sunday run AND SOME SHOING OFF,LOL I have a low gear set up for it and valve body kit picked out but still don't know if I should install or not.my 400 was built for a 406 strocker in a 68 firebird drag car but the man hit hard times with money and sold it to me before he ever put fluid in it.what do I do????
