t5 swap on pre '65 ford 289

Hey everyone,
I've been reading a few articles on doing a t5 swap into early fords, and i see that a lot of people swap the t5 into mustangs. But, i've read that the t5 bell housing from say, an 80's 5.0 mustang has a 6 bolt pattern (which will fit on 289 or 302 after 1965), but the bolt pattern on the pre 65 289's and 302s are a 5 bolt pattern. I have a 64 fairlane with a 289, and i'd like to do the swap, has anyone here done anything like this? Is there an adapter or anything that someone makes to convert from the 5 bolt to 6 bolt pattern? Thanks a lot.

Frank

they do make conversion kits for the late model bellhousing to fit, or for the earlier bellhousing... the kit usually includes the crossmember (early mustang kits). i would think the early mustang crossmember would fit, but i'm not too sure. have you tried calling places up, specific to early fords? like mustangsplus or something? incidently, if you look on their website you'll see the various t5 adapter kits they sell....

thanks a bunch for the reply,
no i haven't called anywhere up yet, i've been looking around online and have found a bunch of information and kits for post-65 cars, i'll try giving some of those guys a call and see if they have anything for earlier models, or know of anyone that does. If the crossmember didn't fit that wouldn't be too big of a deal, since that wouldn't be bad to just make one up, but the 5 to 6 bolt adapter might be a little tougher. Thanks again, i'll let everyone know if i do find a place that carries what you'd need.
