t5 trannies

Does anyone know if s-10 trans are interchangable between 4cyl , 2.8 and
4.3. I currently have a 4.3 with a 700R4 and would like to convert to a
standard.

T5 trannnies were not installed behind the 4.3L in the S10. I think the trans for that engine was the NV3500. That would be the one to use for the easiest swap.

There was one year I believe that t5s were behind the 4.3, but not sure. Either way, the t5 was installed behind small blocks in camaros and firebirds.

The 2.8 t5 has the small bellhousing pattern, smaller input shaft, and (possibly) weaker internals. Just get one from a V8 and you'll be better off.

I agree, but in many cases, where the car is light, and the power on the low side, the V6 Camaro/ Firebird T5 can be an inexpensive alternative to the V8 version. It has a 1"-14 spline input, but is the same length as the "traditional" Muncie/Saginaw input. I just put one behind a 4.3L Chevy V6 in my T roadster. Used an Astrovan flywheel with 11" clutch and it was a bolt on.
