tachometer

hello all and thanks in advance, i am going to build a custom dash and to save expenses try to utilize a in-dash tach from a junker, question is can i use a tach from any v8 production and hook up to a chev hei or does it have to be a gm model.....since my motor will rarwly see 6ooo, the new 5" 10k units are a 'waste'...

I know all aftermarket V8 tachs will work, but I have no idea about pulling one from another make.

All depends on your wiring harness and wether it will support it. Most in dash tachs wouldn't have a case or face protection etc. You would be better off with an aftermarket one.

thanks, i have always liked the looks of some of the older models and just need to know a 'yes' before i head to the local yards
