When I turn on my parking lights and look at the two back tail lights, the one on the left side is WAY brighter than the one on the right. My trucks wiring is very messy, and I'll be rewiring soon, but in the meantime I want to know my tail lights (at least) are working properly.
What would cause one side to be so much brighter than the other? PS - I put new bulbs in each - double filliments. Thanks. Alan Horvath http://AlanHorvath.com/ Acoustic Rock ... for real. [ March 08, 2003: Message edited by: horvath ]
|

Sounds like a bad ground on the one side. Check that and see if thats all it it is.

Alan, as per previous post, good grounds are extremely important and many electrical gremlins can be traced to poor grounds. In the case of you tail light problem, it is possible the wires are switched ie brake light wire is connected to running light filament. Have you checked for the reverse condition with just the running lights on? Also, look at your bulbs to ensure they are the same number and compare the filaments.

Thanks, guys.
This MUST be a bad ground, because I took a ride to my Mom's for dinner - before I left, I checked them again and the right side (front AND back) were BOTH dimmer than the left sides ... then, after I came back, I checked them again, and they were all equally bright! That means one of the grounds is jigglin' and bouncin' around somewhere, eh? I sure am glad I bought the EZ-Wire kit ... I can't wait to DO it! [ March 08, 2003: Message edited by: horvath ]
|
