Post Tail Lights?

What do you guys prefer in tail lights? I am building a T-bucket and was wondering what you all liked the best. I am thinking the, somewhat over used, 39 Ford tear drops would look good. Any other suggestions?

Cory

Cory, I think it all depends on what you like.
Something to think about: What kind of style you going after on your T? The 50's, 60's or high tec?

You could even build your own. Say: get some blue oval Ford emblems, cut the blue out and replace with red lens.
You could even go with motorcycle tail lights and hang them from under the bed.

The plan is a mid 40's to early 50's look. Kind of an early hot rod that has survived over the years. It is going to be flat head powered and all vintage parts will be used. Black primer look with a Mexican blanket interior.

Hey awsum34 that Ford emblem is a cool idea.

HK I like the iron cross idea. Would you want a wooden buck and form the lenses over that or would you suggest a plaster of Paris? Have you ever done this and do you have any tips or tricks?

Thanks for the ideas,
Cory

Thanks HK. I though I read in an artical that this car had custom iron cross taillights, I just assumed that they were made because they could not be bought. Do you have any sugestions of places to find them?

Thanks againg for the cross,

Cory

JP cycles has them and for the rest of their prices those tails are a pretty good price, but I really wouldn't buy much else from them. They do have a free cataloge though.

Alot of people sell them, Zoom cycle www.zoomcyclellc.com, I think mooneyes sells them, if not they have a bunch of other iron cross stuff. There are more, but I can't remember the sites off hand.

Those Iron-cross lights were not available in the time period you want your rod to emulate!
Let me suggest a set of '32 flatlens original type stainless lights (use 2 RH if you're not going to light the plate with the tailight). Mount these under the edge of the bed using 28-29 Model A pickup brackets. For a unique touch, drill the lenses carefully and install a 34 Pickup Hood Side V8 emblems in each lens.
Other options depending on your choice of mounting place includes 51 Pontiac(the round ones), 41-48 Chevy(the rectangular ones, 42-48 Ford(the oval ones), 40 Chevy(the roundtop, pointed bottom ones), and a really different alternative to the Ford teardrops is the 39 Plymouth teardrop(but very hard to find), 58 Impala(the round ones), 58 Biscayne(2 lense with rather bulky mount but might be interesting sunk in a panel under the tailgate, just an idea).
