Cool talk about ford performance.....

so today, i have a thousand miles on the motor. oil change to valvoline durablend 10w40, still have good oil pressure, no new leaks...... remains to be seen, i'm watching.....
and kicked the throttle linkage out about 3/4''. i'm now about a 1/2" in travel from having the carb hit WOT with the linkage set where it is. I've been running all this time with the throttle purposely set short linkage wise, just to keep my foot out of it. i might need to step it back down..... before, at 'full' throttle, the secondary's would just start to open.... now, they kick way open, and it really makes me smile. just point it in a straight direction, and hold on. holy kow!!!
damn these gas prices.....
next i'm gonna screw around with the timing and advance a bit and see what i can screw up.
just wanted to share a tickled moment. i just hope i don't have a Coldknock happen next.....

Nothing like an old Ford truck, a rumbly mota and a responsive throttle, is there?

Crazy Larry, are you going to stick with the Durablend or will you switch to full synthetic when you get more miles on the motor?

Being a leak prone fe, i was skeptical of using the blend...... like i said, i have A MINUTE leak, when installing the timing cover, i slightly stripped one of the timing cover/oil pan polts, so it doesn't hold as tight as it should there, and it does leave a drop or two over nite...i have not had to add any oil so far..... so i was skeered that any type of synthetic would really leak...... not so far...... i really haven't thought much on using the full synthetic.... i figure it'd be more more expensive oil leaking, if anything.....
and another thing..... i read about people changing their synthetic oil about every 5-7k miles, all the oil bottles i read, stated to change it every three months or 3k miles ..... i will say, i did not pick up a bottle of the mobil1 and read it.........

right now, i do not want any trophys....
