I am converting to fuel injection and I am looking for suggestions for an inline fuel filter. I know it needs to handle the high pressure. My pump max is 55psi. I've seen $90 filters but that is just too much. Any recommendations?
If you are using a OEM system one approach is to use the filter and location identical to application that the TBI system used as it was installed on the factory car. If its an aftermarket system check the installation manual or call the manufacturer for a clarification.
Gasoline at 55PSI needs all components to be way overdesigned and thus costly. It's the nature of the beast. At 55 psi if that stuff gets loose it will look like a natural gas explosion not just a fire.
I just put a TBI conversion on my '56 wagon. The "supply" filter supplied in the kit is on the draw side. It see's no high pressure. I used a Billet Specialties filter on the output side I had installed for the original carb set-up. Haven't had any issues with it. Got it from Jegs Billet Specialties 42420, Billet Specialties Billet Fuel Filters | Billet Specialties
