tbi problems

ok i have a 92 chevy 1500 with a 93 350 motor and a 5 speed trans. i built the motor its punched 40 over and have flat top pistions and a comp cam summitraving .com number on the cam is 12-249-4ok no i got the truck running and messed with the idle control mod to get the idle down and the timing is right truck runs great lots of power but the problem i am having is it throughs a timing code and when i start the truck after being set for a while it pulseates for a lil bit sometime its pulseates and shuts off some time is doesnt also when it warms up and i drive it a while when it idles down to normal rpms i hit the gas and it seems to have a hesitation like sound toit and its running lean you can smell it please help i like the tbi n i have a carb n intake but dont want to switch

have you looked into chipping it at all? the computers in those dont adjust themselves, which is probably the issue with it runnin lean

For as mild as this cam is, it is still a lot wilder than what the factory puts into TBI engines, it will need a new chip to get the manifold vacuum readings back into synch with the throttle position sensor and the RPMs. See these guys for help:

did you plug the timing advance disconnect plug thingy back in after setting the timing?
