finally got the vortec swapped in my truck(stock except for performer RPM intake and headers), well, the motor pops under slight throttle and is basically undrivable(305 poped before but wasnt as bad right after headers & new exhaust was installed). I think its possible that the computer may of been damaged when the shop welded on the exhaust, but know that the chip needs to be reburned. what else could possibly cause this?
BTW;what software would be the best to program, ive already got a OBD1 cable to laptop coming.
also, the egr isn't on the motor and the vaccum port on the tbi is pluged.

wouldn't disconnecting the EGR make it run hotter or something? That's what I've heard somewhere. Not sure if it's accurate or anything.

Sounds lean to me...? (fuel pump...?)
And it got worse with more displacement...

not running an EGR would make the intake itself cooler since exhaust doesnt flow through, no computer codes are showing up but id guess it is lean.
